Dyeing Embroidered Fabric

This fabric was a commercially purchased white cotton fabric with yarn-embroidered flowers on it. The yarn was in tan and brown shades originally. I dyed this fabric at my friend Teresa Shippy's house using her dye bucket technique. The blue dye took well to the white cotton, but did not change the color of the embroidered yarn. I love the combination of blues and browns. Some salt was thrown on it during the drying process, which resulted in some of the variation in the blue coloring. Someday this fabric will be just the right thing for something in an art quilt!
