Three Beauties And A Beast at Road to California 2024!

This piece was inspired by the bison I saw at Custer State Park in South Dakota. I added the Cattle Egret to it because I love birds and there has to be a bird in every art quilt I make now!

It will be at the Road to California Quilt Show in January 2024. Ontario Convention Center. Be there or be square! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Flamingo - Flamango will be in Road to California!

This is an art quilt I recently completed and it was accepted in the Road to California 2017 show! Yippee!!!! I have another art quilt that will be in a Special Exhibit ("Put A Bird On It!") from Beyond the Edge Fiber Artists, but this quilt will be in the contest area.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE!!!

"It's a Wonderful Life" by Eileen Wintemute

I’m proud to have this art quilt that I call “It’s A Wonderful Life” in the “My Inner Self Portrait” exhibit at Road to California this year. Beyond the Edge Fiber Artists is presenting this exhibit at Road. This year is Road to California’s 25th anniversary, so it should be a great show. I’m sure there are many special things planned.

This is the description that Beyond the Edge prepared for the “My Inner Self Portrait” exhibit:

A fine arts fiber exhibit exploring aspects of self-portraiture that look beyond the mere physical to review that which is unique to us as individuals and/or that which is universal to all.

We were asked to prepare something to show how we see ourselves. As a child I was very shy and my shyness prevented me from trying experiences that I know I would have enjoyed. In high school I realized I was missing out on a lot, and started to push myself more. Much to my delight I found friends, happy memories and accomplishments once I took some chances. Today I am a happy person with many blessings and accomplishments, partly because I have been blessed, and partly because I overcame my shyness.  My quilt is intended reflect all of that.

I will be showing how I made this in my upcoming posts. In the meantime, I hope I see you at Road. As always, thanks for visiting my blog!

Road to California is this Weekend!

Approaching Mott Bridge
I love the Road to California show and it is this weekend. I am always overwhelmed by the quilts and art pieces in this show. I think the show gets better each year. It also has a lot of high quality vendors that you don't see at all the local quilt shows. I will be shopping for some pre-wound bobbins and maybe an accessory for my new quilting machine.

I am showing these two art quilts because they will both be at the show. The one to the left will be in the Quilts on the Wall Bridges exhibit, and the one below will be in the Nobel Seasons - Winter exhibit.

I hope you have a chance to get to the show. Maybe I will see you there!

It was a cold and stormy night...
