North Umpqua River

Every year I go on a camping and fishing trip on the North Umpqua River in Oregon. This is a beautiful location and the inspiration for many paintings and art pieces.  I have just returned from my annual trip, so I thought I would post this painting of a spot on the river. The location is called "Elevation" and the rock structure there is unique and very recognizable to those who know the river. I did this painting over the summer in a workshop with Judy Schroeder.

Mergansers!

I go on a fishing trip every year to the North Umpqua River in Oregon. It is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, in my opinion. There are mergansers on the river, and  I see them on the water or flying  by when I am fishing. They are wonderful to watch and I look forward to seeing them every year.

This is a watercolor painting I did from a photo of the mergansers on the river.
