"The Ways of Water" Art Show, RSM Cares

I am very proud to have had two of my oil paintings juried into the RSM Cares Art Exhibit, entitled "The Ways of Water"! The call for entry for this show got a very impressive response, and the show promises to be a good one.

These are my two paintings that will be in the show:

Porpoises in the Wake, Oil, 7"x9"

A View of the Back Bay, oil, 11"x14"

Both of these paintings were made from photographs I took while out birding. The porpoises were seen while on a pelagic trip, and the other view was from birding at Newport Back Bay. Birding is my favorite muse!

I have included information about this upcoming show and artist reception. I hope to see you at the reception! The RSM Cares group is very active with the local artist community, so I'm expecting a nice crowd of artist and art appreciators.

Pears Conversing

This is a painting I recently finished based on a photo I took of some pears. I liked the way the pears were leaning, almost like there was a conversation going on. The painting is gouache on toned paper.

"High Society" in Sacred Threads Main Exhibition

High Society

This is my homage to vintage linens that I call "High Society". It is made of linens or fabric that I got from my Mother, Grandmother, or in an antique store. This quilt is on display at the Sacred Threads Exhibition in Indianapolis, IN, until November 9, 2025. This exhibition is described as focusing on "expressing life's journeys, joy, spirituality, healing, grief, inspiration, and peace". The exhibition is at the Zion Evangelical UCC.

BEST OF SHOW! All Is Wright With The World!

I'm so honored to have been awarded BEST OF SHOW in the Flying Geese Quilters Guild 2025 Quilt Show for my "All is Wright With the World" art quilt, shown below. I never in a million years expected to receive a best of show award. I am overwhelmed and gratified to have received this award. Woo Hoo!

All Is Wright With The World

I created this fiber art piece based on a photo of my husband sitting with a friend on a fishing trip. The place they are sitting is called "Wright Creek", hence the use of this word in the title.

High Society - A Tribute to Vintage Linens

I took a class about incorporating vintage linens in quilts from Cindy Needham years ago. She inspired me to do something creative with the linens I have from my Mom and Grandmother. Here is the result:

On The Hunt!

I was birding one morning and saw two barn owls flying over a field, looking for breakfast. It was 8 am, a very unusual time to see owls flying. What a fabulous treat for me! Those birds inspired me to make this piece that I call, "On the Hunt!". I show the owl at night because that is when you would normally expect them to be out.

Three Beauties And A Beast at Road to California 2024!

This piece was inspired by the bison I saw at Custer State Park in South Dakota. I added the Cattle Egret to it because I love birds and there has to be a bird in every art quilt I make now!

It will be at the Road to California Quilt Show in January 2024. Ontario Convention Center. Be there or be square! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Some Photos from the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Art Museum

A fellow fiber artist, Laurie Mutalipassi, sent me these photos of the La Conner Washington Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Art Museum and my quilt on display at their current show, "Birds of a Fiber".  Here are the photos:

I love the Victorian Building the museum is in.

My art quilt looks good on that wall!

Laurie also has a piece in this show. It is entitled "Kauai Rooster" and here it is:

Beautiful art piece Laurie and thanks for sending me those photos! The show is extended through the end of March, so if you're in the vicinity, try to catch it.

"The Royal Treatment" will be in the Birds of a Fiber Exhibit

I'm very proud to have my peacock art quilt, "The Royal Treatment" accepted in the 5th Annual "Birds of a Fiber" exhibit.

           "The Royal Treatment", Eileen Wintemute

This exhibit will be held at the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Arts Museum in La Conner, Washington. The exhibit runs from January 26th through February 27, 2022. The museum address is 703 South 2nd Street, La Conner, WA.

I've had it as a goal to have one of my pieces in that museum when I saw it on a fishing trip years ago. It is a cute little building in a cute little town.

Here is a detailed photo of my quilt:

My Little Gouache Book

I have a 6" x 6" brown book that I have been filling up with gouache paintings. It is a fun little thing to do, and I love the way the paintings look on the brown paper. Here is one of them:
