There are several beads in this photo just below the pink flower petal. Can you see them? They are white and clear, so it's a little tough to make them out in the photo, but they are there, and they add just a touch of interesting detail when you look at the quilt up close.
One thing I like to do to secure beading on an art quilt is to put some thread knot glue at the base of the beading. It makes it less prone to movement, and I think secures the beads a little better. This is particularly important for pieces that will travel.

Lace Doily
This is a close up of the lace doily on my Tall Stems 2 piece. I love to use lace on my art quilt pieces, and this seems like a good application for it.
It is hard to tell here, but I used Tsukineko inks to paint the doily a mottled color so it was not "stark" against the red background. This was a suggestion from Deborah Stanley, and I think it improved it. It's good to have friends that give you tips to improve your work!

Tall Stems 2
I finished my large version of what I call "Tall Stems 2". I am happy with the way it turned out. I will show some details of it in a couple of days, but I like the beading in particular, and the lace doily.
I have this on display at Soft Expressions in the months of March and April as part of the exhibit I am participating in. If you have a chance to stop by and see the exhibit, please be sure to sign the guest book!
